‘Cats, Lady ‘Cats both post wins this week in diamond action

Softball – The Bearcats won both of their games last week played against the Superior Panthers. They defeated the Panthers 6 – 1 on Apr. 16 and 11 – 0 on Apr. 19. Stormee Galka was the player of the game on Apr. 16 as she struck out 13 Panthers’ hitters. She also had two hits in the game. Ashley Meza and Sarah Duncklee each had two hits and two RBI in contest. In the 11 – 0 win, the ‘Cats scored in each of the first three innings and received a sensational pitching performance from Annie Hinojos, who allowed only two hits. Sarah Duncklee had three hits in the game, including a double and a triple, and four RBI. The ‘Cats close out their regular season on Apr. 23 at home versus Hayden. The Bearcats, currently ranked fifth in the playoff rankings, will look forward to the playoffs after their regular season ends.

Baseball – The Bearcats extended their winning streak to 11 games with four wins last week. The ‘Cats have scored 14 runs or more runs in each of their last four games. Dominic Bravo had a total of six RBI in the 15 – 10 victory over Miami on Apr. 17. Jacob Pace, a sophomore, was three-for-three with an RBI in the game. Pitcher Seth Harmon earned the complete game win. In a 17 – 2 victory over Canyon State Academy on Apr. 18, Jacob Wernett had four hits and two RBI. Brandon Acevedo had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI in a 16 – 3 win versus Superior on Apr. 16. The ‘Cats will close out their regular season on Apr. 24 with a potential playoff preview versus Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. The game will be played at Ray High School.
