Bountiful Baskets is a food co-op run by volunteers that makes fresh fruits and vegetables available to the community for a $15 contribution per basket. The amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in one $15 basket is worth a lot more than the price paid.
There are also different extras available each week for an additional charge, like organic bread, granola, coconut and olive oil, and flats or cases of fruits and berries in season.
There are now two sites operating on alternate weeks in the Tri-Community area; one in San Manuel and another in Oracle.
To place an order, a participant must first go online and register for free at BountifulBaskets.org. Once registered, the participant will get an email each Monday with a link to the page where the order can be placed and payment made for the basket of fruits and vegetables, and any extras that are available that week.
The next day for ordering online for pick up at the San Manuel site begins at noon on Monday, June 17 and ends at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. The pick up day for that order is Saturday, Jun 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lower Arcade, Elk’s Lodge Breezeway, 139 West 8th Avenue in San Manuel.
The next day for ordering online for pick up at the Oracle site begins at noon on Monday, Jun 25 and closes at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, with the pick up day for that order on Sat. June 29 at 9:15 am at My Cousins Closet, 1210 West American Avenue in Oracle.
If a local elder or disabled person would like to participate but is unable to pick up their basket and doesn’t have anyone to do it for them, a Bountiful Baskets volunteer will collect the basket for that person and arrange for delivery. However, for all the able-bodied folks, if the ordered baskets are not picked up within a 20-minute window, they are donated to the food bank.
