Smiling Dog Landscapes is a full service landscaping and yard maintenance company.  The company is owned by Tom McDonald and he operates the business out of Gold Canyon.  He has been in business since 2000.  Tom received his degree in Biology and Botany and played a key role in the development of the Gold Canyon Golf Resort before he opened Smiling Dog Landscapes.

Smiling Dog Landscaping has 16 employees and they offer a variety of services from landscaping design and installation, irrigation system repair, upgrades and installation, low voltage landscaping lighting and general landscape upkeep.  For customers in Superior, his focus has been on landscape design and installation as well as irrigation services.  They can serve both residential and commercial clients.  He has not expanded his routine yard maintenance services into the Superior and Globe/Miami area due to the travel costs.

Smiling Dog Landscapes also offers educational services from their offices including classes on irrigation and water systems, healing plants of the desert and they also have a garden walk class.  These classes are all held at their Gold Canyon office.  Smiling Dog Landscapes joined the Superior Chamber and is involved in many other community projects in the Gold Canyon and Apache Junction areas including the Peralta School Garden and the Silly Mountain Trails restoration project.

Tom’s best business advice: “Utilize the services of the Small Business Development Center.  They can help you every step of the way.”
