Billie Marie “Buba” Stockton Wilson died peacefully in Mesa on May 13, 2016. Billie Marie was born June 13, 1922 to parents William S. “Bill” and Anna Stockton. She was one of 10 children.
She was married to Noel B. Wilson in 1941. They lived a short time in Taylor County. After Noel was discharged from the Army, following World War II, they moved to Arizona. They raised their three sons in Kelvin.
Noel died March 30, 2004. Also preceding her in death are her daughter-in-law, Billye Andrews, and one granddaughter, Tammy Wilson.
She is survived by her three sons, Lynn (Kay) of Fort Worth, Lloyd (Ria) of Kelvin and Les “Duke” Wilson, also of Kelvin. She is survived by one sister, Lola Maxwell of Abilene, as well as 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billie enjoyed reading, painting, crocheting, working cross puzzles, birdwatching and cooking. As her eyesight failed, in later years, she listened to books on tape, as she snacked on her favorite candy bar: Snickers. She was renowned for the chicken and dumplings, she made for family and friends. They were always requested and always a favorite.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. at Griffith Mortuary on Saturday, June 25. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Disabled Veterans, The American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity of your choice.
