  Betty Marie Swicegood, 82, passed away in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida on Dec. 1, 2016. She was born in Vivian, Louisiana.
    She is survived by her husband, Joe; son, Steve; daughters, Laura Kingston and Barbara Pierson; siblings, James Powell, Mary Nell Fisher, Vera Denney and Danny Ray Powell; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
   She and her family lived in San Manuel in the early 1960s and owned Farmers Insurance until her retirement in 1996.

  They hosted a number of international students and refugees in their home.

  After earning her degree as a Bachelor of Theology at Christian International College she became a Christian counselor and founded Transform ministry. Through that work, Betty was able to bring hope and healing to a great number of people. She loved traveling, whether cross-country to visit friends and family, or to faraway places in Europe or the Holy Land.
  Services will be held at the Living Word Chapel, 3941 W. Hwy. 77 in Oracle on Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. Entombment will be in Santa Rosa Beach in Florida, at a time unspecified.
