ALTIN HING

SENIOR – RAY HIGH SCHOOL

SPORTS: BASEBALL

POSITIONS: CF

NOTABLE STATS: 2010-11 All-Conference

When did you start playing baseball?

I started with t-ball and I’ve played every year since. Growing up, I always watched the Diamondbacks’ games with my grandparents.

Who, or what, inspires you to be the best you can be?

My nana, Tetra Bingochea. She passed away my freshman year in high school and she has always been an inspiration throughout my life. The most important things my nana taught me were to always put others first before myself and to show the greatest love to the people closest in my life. Every time I step up to the plate I cross myself, kiss my fingers, and point to the sky in memory of my nana.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be attending the U.S. Air Force Prep School. It’s a 10-month program and after successful completion I will be admitted to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

I want you to finish this sentence: “My greatest athletic memory at Ray HS is…?

It was my sophomore year. It was one of my best years playing ball. At the end of the season I was selected first team All-Conference.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Up until I was 10 or 11 years old I used to have a “blankie.”

Do you have a quote or a phrase you like to refer to that helps get you through difficult times or provides motivation?

“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.” As American citizens we are given opportunities to achieve. Once we find the opportunity it’s up to us to capitalize on it. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if others recognize our accomplishments, but knowing ourselves that we did the right thing.

What is your favorite song to listen to before a game?

“My Oh My” and “10,000 Hours” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
