Arturo A. Lopez passed away on April 17, 2016, in Tucson. Arturo was born in Ray on Nov. 15, 1954. He was a Hayden High School graduate.
Arturo is survived by his loving mother, Ramona; his lifelong companion, Nina Contreras; his children, Javier and Angelina; brother, Cornelius (Ceci); Josie (Frank); Micaela (Denny) and Jerri (Chacho).
He had a very interesting start in life. All of his siblings were born at home, but, by the time Arturo was to be born, the local doctors did not make house calls. So, Arturo was born at the Ray Hospital and when it was time to come home to Hayden (San Pedro) his mom was given a baby wrapped up tightly, because of the cold. Once mom and baby arrived home, it was time to change baby’s diaper. What a surprise the new mom got when she discovered that she was given a girl, not a boy, baby. The baby girl was immediately returned to the Ray Hospital in trade for Arturo.
Services for Arturo will be at St. Joseph Church in Hayden on Thursday, April 21. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and Mass at 10 a.m.
