Globe — The Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Historic Home and Building Tour on March 9 and 10 in Globe, The purchase of a ticket will garner you a commemorative copper ticket that will grant you access to the several territorial era homes and other buildings of interest in the historic mining town of Globe, including some that date back to the early 1900s.
The tour, which has been named an official Centennial Event by the state, begins with a fleet of vehicles standing ready to whisk you and other visitors away to the various stops where you will be treated to an overview of the buildings architecture and history.
You can stay as long as you like if a particular piece of history captures your attention. However, don’t stay too long because, as interesting as the tour is, there is more than historic housing to capture your attention.
For instance, the lovely quilts of the Copper Country Quilters will be displayed in their annual Pieces of Friendship show at the old courthouse through the month of March.
As a visitor to the Home Tour you are invited to come in and enjoy. Or, if you have had your surfeit of antique buildings, perhaps you would like to visit Globe High School to view antiques at a show that has, over the years, become a favorite part of the Home Tour weekend.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Chamber at 928-425-4495, or you can find them on the days of the show at the old train depot on Broad Street in downtown Globe. The cost is $15 per adult or $10 for children under 12.
