Amparo M. Young, born in Bisbee on November 27, 1925 went into peace on May 25, 2013 at 3:45 p.m. at Oro Valley Hospital, following to rest her husband, Alex T. Young, and two sons, Arturo Jr. and Johnny Garcia.
She leaves behind her children, Carlos (Vicki) Garcia, Rosalia Young, Angelina Young and Armando Young; grandchildren, Maria Garcia, Tina Young, Peter (Carmen) Young, Juan Garcia, Teddy (Marisol) Young, Pablo (Lynette) Acuna, Larry Garcia, Teresa Garcia, Patricia (Leo) Hernandez and Pio Murillo; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Amparo came from a family of six. She was married to her first husband, Arturo Garcia, for 14 years. They lived across the river in Mammoth and had three boys: Arturo Jr., Johnny, and Carlos Garcia. Arturo Jr. and Johnny passed away in Vietnam.
Amparo then met the love of her life Alex T. Young. They shared a life for 53 years and had three children: Rosalia, Angelita, and Armando Young. They lived a few years in California, then made their home in Mammoth.
Amparo was a jill of all trades, but loved to be with her family. She spent a lot of time volunteering with the church, being a den mother for the Cub Scouts, working the booths at the fiestas, and other activities. She was an ongoing member of the Catholic church. Amparo also worked at La Casita as a tortilla maker and many years cleaning at the clinic.
Services were held on Friday, May 31, with Rosary at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Mammoth. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. and interment followed at 11 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Mammoth.
