Amalia Ruiz Clark celebrated her 99th birthday with family and friends on Saturday, March 21 at her home in Oracle. Her and her late husband Tom Sr. raised two daughters, Sharon and Dee and a son Tom, Jr. Amalia is a grandmother and great grandmother and continues to live in her home in Oracle. The house was originally built in Tiger, Ariz. and moved to Oracle when the Tiger mine closed down.
Amalia is known for her cooking both with her family and the many people who attended her cooking classes in Tucson or tried her recipes in her book of traditional Sonoran cooking “Amalia’s Special Mexican Dishes” which is now in its seventh printing.
