Many things happened along the Gila, but I missed them because I was residing in the intensive care unit at Oro Valley Hospital in Tucson. I felt pains in my chest on Tuesday night and called 911. Our fine Kearny EMS (and officer Ken Boldin) were at my door in a minute, and soon decided that I was the winner of a helicopter ride. Once I was in and we took off, it took only 18 minutes.
The emergency doctors were skilled and courteous, and got me wired up for the ICU. Well, I didn’t have a heart attack, but I do have pericarditis which mimics the symptoms of a heart attack. I am home now, weak but alert, and seeing the pain diminish a little every day.
Well, while I was away, Horizon Health opened its doors in the old bank building which they have been rehabbing for some time now; RAD sanitation services delivered the new recycling bins and an explanatory letter about the garbage service, and the Kearny Town Council voted not to have a shared police chief with Hayden, Winkelman, and Mammoth.
On top of that, there’s a new café in Mammoth that I need to check out, and I missed my opportunity to emcee the Country and Gospel concert at Good Shepherd Church in Kearny. I also missed saying “goodbye” to the missionary NOMADS who provided three weeks of service to Kearny, including work at the Hand Me Up Shop.
The one thing I managed to accomplish was to find a way for Kearny citizens to read and review the proposed 10-year planning document. Right now it is not on the town’s website, but this is the direct link to it: bit.ly/KearnyPlan. Please take time to read and critique this important document.
