It’s been a long wait since the last Scout from the Tri-Community reached the pinnacle of Scout ranking, but Alec Newman has done it.

Alec earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was honored at the Troop 822 Eagle Court of Honor held at the San Manuel Elks Lodge on Sunday May 3, 2015.

Alec became the first young man in 16 years to attain the rank of Eagle Scout in San Manuel.

The event started with a luncheon. Following the opening by troop 822 Patrol Leader Michael Garcia and the presentation of the colors and pledge of allegiance. Dr. Jane Newman gave the invocation.

Doug Rivard administered the Eagle Scout oath and presented Alec with his badge. Alec was then presented a neckerchief and medal by his parents, Terry and Cheryl. Alec then presented them with parent pins. Alec also presented a mentor pin to John Eckert who was also an Eagle Scout. Four other Eagle Scouts were in attendance for the presentation.

Following the ceremonies, everyone enjoyed dessert and drinks.

Congratulations to Alec and his proud parents.
